We are trying to get a national school for the kids in Milltown, there’s none at the moment, of ANY denomination.
It’s a population of over 4000 and no school. There is a birth rate of 64 babies per year, the last school was closed in 1995 when the population was less than half the size, it was actually replaced by 625 residential units.
We are desperately trying to get the department to do something about it and have met with the Minister who has agreed there is a need. We are currently involved in a door to door petition campaign.

Babies coming out their ears in Milltown.
Thats not where babies come from T
Sure what do you need schools for? This is Ireland, plan A is: don’t plan for the future, it may never happen
Don’t be ridiculous, the Minister has acknowledged there’s a need.
All that remains to do is to come up with a half-assed stop-gap solution that suits nobody, to be implemented as last minute as possible.
Europe’s first school made entirely from prefabs or something like that?
Gave them to the Catholic Church, sure what harm did they ever do!
I’d be curious as to which (if any) patronage bodies have been approached/lined up to back the school.
I hope they get their wish for a school. Seems to be a clear need, on the face of it.
When the Department announce that a new school is to be opened they then invite patron bodies to apply to run the school. Educate Together would certainly apply to be patron of a school there and I would expect other patrons to apply too.
The CIty of Dublin ETB have already offered patronage.for a school, it’s on their FB page
What about Our Ladys National School in Windy Arbour?
Bort, that school is in the Parish of Clonskeagh, therefore Milltown kids have no priority.

School urgently needed in Milltown!!! Consensus at local meetings would suggest the Community National School model most appropriate. See http://www.cns.ie
