I received on for my area (04) the other day. Like the 01 version in the photo I noted that it is much thinner than in days of yore and that got me thinking. Is it because more people have pretty much moved over to mobile phones and so don’t have landlines? Are more people choosing to be ex-directory? Or have they just started using a much smaller font? (seriously, I have not opened one in years to check…) And finally, does anybody really use them anymore, except as building material and for leveling coffee tables?

The lack of landline wouldn’t account for the Golden Pages which is also way smaller. I imagine most businesses have landlines.

We had a landline. The only people who called were my grandparents and cold callers. We got rid of it. A perfect waste of money, it was. I imagine we’re not alone in that.

  3. Cup of tea anyone

I have a landline. It comes with the internet. I got a phone to check the line was working once. Hasn’t been plugged in since. waste of money.
I love it though when you see offers of half price internet for 6 months but you then find out internet is €10 a month and the line rental is €30.

People must be paying less to advertise in them – who needs to? Now when you want a plumber you look online.

Ah yes.. 500 or so of these in our communal recycling skip the other day. Such a pointless waste. Could you not sign up for them or something?
