Two thousand gardai were among the mourners at the state funeral of Garda Anthony Golden. The father of three was was shot dead at a house near Omeath in Co Louth on Sunday evening as he was bringing a victim of domestic violence to her home to retrieve her personal possessions.

Ah, that is nice of them. Fingers crossed for her pulling through and sympathy to his family.
A brave, decent man gone. I know it’s cold comfort to his family, but I hope they take some solace from the fact that Tony Golden died protecting others. RIP and condolences to his family and friends and the wider Garda community.
