The most conservative catholics I know, while they might have a personal preference for other cardinals, just get on with it. Unity is far more important than an individual personality. The church could not have survived without unity and a strong chain going right back to St Peter. Francis has grown on me. The contrast with Benedict has been good for the church in my view. Though I’m not sure what to make of his frequent off-the-cuff remarks. He’s certainly forced conservatives (and others) to think. Though the hysteria and confusion is almost 100% the media at play than anything he or the Vatican actually says or writes.
