The party’s director of elections Billy Kelleher described [last year] anything more than 35 seats as a major achievement.
Under new Dáil arithmetic, with the number of TDs elected reduced from 166 to 158, a government would need 79 seats to get into office. Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin is ruling out coalition with Fine Gael or Sinn Féin, leaving his party well short….
The party’s Seanad leader and Dublin spokesman Darragh O’Brien said Mr Kelleher was merely asked what would be a good result.

Celebrity endorsement.
He’s no John Delaney in fairness
There is something seedy and unsettling about Richie Kavanagh. He just looks untrustworthy and predatory and I can’t explain why.
Micheal Martin looks like Atticus feckin Finch beside him.
There’s a real John Wayne Gacy vibe off him
So just to be clear, you think he looks like a sexual predator who would happily murder 33 young boys?
You know how you can look at pictures of Gacy in his clown getup and wonder how people trusted him at all, how they let him near children? Kavanagh has a similar vibe. I can’t explain it or isolate any element that gives rise to my unease, but there it is. He just make my skin creep.
Fianna Fáil attempting to demonstrate engagement with the grassroots gombeen demographic. Next week: Hector Ó Hyuckagawn for the yawping Copperface Jack’s subset.
Oh, and lest we forget:

It’s clear RTE was happy for them to be in the shot. If they didn’t then they could have asked an assistant to drop an envelope 60 yards away and then done their piece while the FFers stampeded.
See the guy from Mike Mechanics was in attendance (bearded mullet bloke – right)
Neither FF or FG will admit to the electorate that they will form a
coalation government once the election is over, they can’t let on
before the election, as there would be opposition from the old
guard in both parties, yet once the dust settles, they will soon
accept the inevatible in pursuit of power, as iff they dont, then its
Sinn Fein and a group of independents after the following election.
All they have carved up would be lost, as all its about is power.
Unfortunately it is so. Lab will be the losers this time aroundl. FF and FG will say one thing and then do an about face. Both parties have form in this regards look at what Enda said about hospital trollies. They have spent so long bashing SF it would be suicide for them to enter a coalition with them, would paint them as power hungry or….
No party wants SF in power. The thought of them having access to ministry of justice sickens me to the core.
FF wrecked the country and I’m finding it hard to fathom why they are in the ascendancy again.
Everyone hates Labour but they mopping up after the mess. Just like the rainbow government last time.
Richie-bleedin’-Kavanagh???!!
This is like Benny Hill endorsing the Tory party.
One of these people appears to be a gobpoo…
This is too much of a coincidence. Two villages missing their idiots at the same time !
