Never heard of him.
He’s the man with his finger on the pulse and complete control of the public finances. His Department, it appears exercise little if any oversight or supervision over eight billions worth of “public procurement” annually. An ideal situation to encourage graft, wouldn’t you think?
Is that the same department that couldn’t explain where the extra billions in corporation revenue came from last year?
Sheik have you heard of the Comptroller and Auditor General?
Fiscal space?
Yes, Brown. It is HE who is complaining of the dearth of simple record keeping, lack of oversight and supervision, and general lack of accounting. Apparently this makes his job nigh on impossible.
What Michael said when he saw Mary Regan was, ‘I’m having an erection’.
There most definitely will be another election – just a question of when – a month, 18 months or 3 years.
Best new ever…please for the love of whatever….stop voting FG & FF & Labour…we need a change from corruption
Or just vote exactly how you did on February 26th.
Then protest en masse for a democratically-elected government and bring whatever law that exists against the shower of them for contempt of the Irish electorate!!
Or abstain from voting altogether so a quota is not reached.
Labour re-introduced freedom of information legislation, protection of whistleblowers, lobbyists register etc to deal with aspects of corruption.
Labour didn’t win the 2011 election and is only ever in power following an FF muck up. thereafter the electorate goes back to is conservative normal.
Out of curiosity, who would you rather be in power?
Labour also introduced legislation to protect politicians expenses from scrutiny. I’d prefer the social democrats myself
“Labour re-introduced freedom of information legislation.”
Could you be a bit more specific?
From my understanding Howlin got a lot of criticism from journalists for his attempts to amend FOI related regulations.
e.g. He nearly killed the act back in 2013.

It was only when his actions came under scrutiny that he backed down at the last minute. At least with those particular changes.
Why aren’t SF & FF talking? Both are republican nationalist parties.
I’d call it akin to a gangland feud
SF are petrified at the idea of implementing their policies and having their bullsh1t laid bare.
+1
Why would they not believe in their own policies?
Because in opposition they can promise the sun, moon and the stars; in government, they would occasionally have to implement difficult decisions.
Like in N. Ireland, where they don’t have a problem with implementing water charges.
I think saying this kind of stuff really underestimates them, which is not wise if you don’t like them.
tell ya one thing tho
anything that gets the Shinners out’ve opposition will get Yay Votes from the Indos and the “Smaller” Parties
so who’s codding who
btw. Peadar Tobin said they weren’t talking because t’was “Policy”
I hope that people never vote FG, FF, Labour or Sinn Fein (who don’t want to be in Government) ever again. Vote Independents ….. that way we will get reform. The old way is out, in with the new!
A govt based on independents, wonderful – a motorway to every hamlet.
I don’t see how that would work. If you could elaborate I’d be interested in reading your outlook. No pressure however.
Maybe this time, Kelly and Red Coat will lose their seats.
Fingers crossed… http://youtu.be/9Wn6MrlEaCE
all TD’s and Senators should be subject to drug testing….
With any luck the people of Limerick with give Baldy the boot.. Can’t stand the arrogant c***
Nice. admins can we ban Anne please her bad language is very uncivilised?
+1
I agree Anne.
Noonan is an embarrassment.
Between you and me, and Willie O’Dea, I think the best thing that ever came out of Limerick is the road to Dublin.
I’m sure you’ll agree.
Anne, please, stop with the hyper aggression.
it really reflects badly on you that you would abuse someone on their appearance, no wonder depression is such a problem in this country with such casual insults
Harry please don’t be so uncivilised. It really hurts Anne when you talk to her like that
