I grew up nearby and remember the day clearly. Our school went into lockdown and as it happened during lunch – when many went home for lunch – multiple roll calls were taken during the day to make sure all were accounted for.
I can’t actually believe I’m reading that there’s a person still alive that saw him with Cooke that day.
This happened in my community and to this day I’m still haunted by what happened to Philip.

Awful that this woman sat with this for 30 years and let the family suffer for all that time.
I don’t care what hold this man had on her, it’s inexcusable..
So the girlfriend of paeda Cooke comes forward with information after 40 years on the murder of Philip Cairns. I find this hard to forgive.Hopes, dreams, prayers that Philip may be alive and age progression photos of Philip constantly updated. What is wrong with people? How to continue inflicting torture on tragic family is hard to fathom. I hope An garda find Philip’s remains. God Bless little boy.

Can she be prosecuted with anything?

2 days ago it emerged that the 6 civilians shot dead in Louglinisland in 1994 occurred at the behest of collusion of British security forces – yet none of Irish newspapers saw fit to report the issue on the front cover.
Today the papers have the 1983 case of the disappearance and death of the schoolboy Philip Cairns all over their front pages.
Is the desperate death of one child in Dublin of so much greater public interest than the murder of a half dozen civilians less than 100 miles away and done at the behest of collusion by the British state?

It’s a pretty disgusting story tho
And I hope that witness gets charged with sum’ting
Loughlin Island 6 don’t matter now
Unfortunately
It’s just the way it is
Stuff like RUC UVF Special Forces collusion to murder Irish citizens only matter to a few of us Dude.
It’s just the way it is
some old queen
No Dude has a point. Whenever there is evidence of British involvement the Irish papers go very cool although this was reported in both Journal and Indo but like most, I missed it because it wasn’t a headline.

It’s not sexy enough. Paedos are a hot topic.

I’m sickened by your pathetic sense of whataboutery, but they are probably waiting for the Sunday print run where the impact for a story like that will be higher.

Well said. The Irish press failed miserably in their reporting on crown forces collusion with regard to Bloody Sunday (Saville Inquiry or not) along with the collusion involved in the Dublin and Monaghan Bombings.
The Belturbet bombing of 1972, the Dundalk bombing of 1975, The Miami Showband massacre of 1975 and the Castleblayney bombing
of 1976 were with their British State Forces
collusion with the UVF given the same scant coverage

I thought we were all supposed to forget who did what during the Troubles?
At least that’s what Sinn Fein say whenever people ask Gerry where the bodies are buried.
The ‘Royals’ are real dragging the arse out of the old doll’s birthday
Some small relief from Brexit and Ingerland’s chances in the European cup?
The Daily Mail cover…. there’s just…

Easy to forget when you weren’t affected Kieran.
Gerry doesn’t speak for everyone.
