Dáil meant to begin at 10:30 to debate legislation to remove IBRC roadblocks – but it’s 10.53 and we haven’t got the quorum of 20 to begin

Nine TDs from Fianna Fail but only three from Fine Gael, plus Catherine Murphy and Paul Murphy. Even if Ceann Comhairle included, four short

Clerk does a quick head count and determines there are 19 in the chamber – the Ceann Comhairle makes 20 and we’re underway, 39 minutes late

Ceann Comhairle: “We have had a pretty unprecedented event this morning given the failure to present a quorum”
— Gavan Reilly (@gavreilly) July 8, 2016
Yikes.
What are IBRC roadblocks?
What’s an IBRC roadblock?
I doubt any of these numpties so much as farts unless there’s money to be put in their pockets and the pockets of their mates.
Shure most of the TDs travel back to their constituencies on a Friday and are currently on their third pint by now.
New politics!
Another episode for the ever growing list of problems with the political class here.

On Dallas, social media makes for scary reading. Lots of angry people, looking for someone to blame/hate/fear, with a lot more weapons available than there should be.
Doubt it’ll get less scary any time soon. The RUC and British state have a lot of blame to take for the launch of the Provos. There are parallels here. I’d say it’s just a matter of time before some black paramilitary group organises.
There was documentary on BBC a couple of nights ago , in Dallas, following heavily armed black militias and their confrontations with white right wing groups. Both groups armed to the teeth with machine guns parading around the streets. The Dallas police trying to keep calm. It’s a tinder box over there. Here is some context from another bbc documentary a couple of months back http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4ch4zx_black-power-americas-armed-resistance-dawn-of-a-armed-resistance-movement-bbc-documentary-2016-hd_shortfilms
I won’t be watching that until later but the url is pretty explanatory. These cop deaths are horrible but completely predictable.
Tax payer may get a break from expenses today
And here’s me working…. and knowing that I have to work six months of the year before I get any take-home pay, because I have to fund these wasters…
Seriously, these guys deserve a hard slap!
I’m putting a Voodoo curse on the Dail. A pox on you! Useless cants!
Be kind guys. It’s the weekend. They work hard Tuesday – Thursday a few weeks a year.
I would have loved an extra hour in bed this morning myself.
go easy on them, there was a fierce amount of scoops last night
It is absolutely not unprecedented. It happened in January. The current Ceann Comhairle probably missed that day: http://www.thejournal.ie/dail-no-show-2569482-Jan2016/
The dail bar should not be allowed open early in the morning, no matter how desperate, the TD`s are for a drink.
