Wasn’t Autumn from 1st August years ago?
my mother-in-law still insists on that. Spring has to start on February the 1st to allow for it, I can’t understand what all the rush is about.
Yeh, I too was brought up with that bizarre seasons definition. to this day I’m confused about when seasons start.
There are no official start and end dates for seasons.
I think this is the reason-

Met Éireann have it as September, October, November.
That’s interesting.
Makes sense if you think about it in terms of daylight hours. The summer solstice, or “midsummer”, falls around 22nd June. Thats roughly mid way between 1st May and 31st of July, making May, June and July the summer months. If you think of seasons in terms of weather, then June, July and August probably sits easier with you.
I know it’s off topic but the bake-off doodle in the post above is brilliant, absolutely golden.
Hey, where’d the post go? BS don’t mess with my head like that. It’s been an emotional day and it’s only lunchtime.
Tis not like that in Cork boy
is dat fella dogging?
