   Its a decent personal achievment.

   But I cannot stand the right on british media ramming this event down our throats like its some sort of great spectacle and that these are all elite athletes.

      They are elite athletes. As they said on the Last Leg yesterday, this isn’t “everyone gets a medal”. Smyth came within a whisper of qualifying for the ordinary Olympics and trains with Tyson Gay. Can you run 100m in 10.68 seconds?

   Smyth was the first Paralympian to compete at a European championships. He qualified for the semi-finals of the 100 metres and was one place out from qualifying for the final.

   Dude has achieved more sporting success than you ever will.

      This guy is a proper elite level athlete and I respect him a lot. If it was a 100m race between us both he’d take it no question despite by pace.
