It’s that time of year again where I try to win the Favourite Child of the Year award by telling you all about my mother’s Mustards with notions!
It’s been a great year for The Lodge Barna Mustards – mammy finally has a website where you can buy them online (Ireland only so far), there are now EIGHT mustards in the range including a Buckie mustard, a Galway Hooker Pale Ale Mustard and a Dingle Gin, Lime & Juniper Mustard! (Such notions!)
The mustards are on sale all over Galway city and county, in Kerry (at the Dingle Distillery) and in our nation’s capital too in Gleeson’s of Booterstown!

Whatever happened to just mustard?
It’s not so much that, it’s the use on the word “notions” that sets my teeth on edge.
The only tag worse is ‘with attitude’, really. Those mustards do look OK, though.
My current top 5 mustards:
1. Beaver Extra Hot Jalapeno
2. Lidl English Mustard
3. Grey Poupon
4. Beaver Honey Mustard
5. Aldi Wholegrain
Might make some room for this gear but only if the cutesy is dialled back a few notches.
