The return of property porn?

Louis Le Fronde writes:

It seems the Irish Times are continuing their specific line of propaganda when it comes to the property market, lest anyone forget they are in the business of selling advertising.

I seem to recall they helped pump-prime the last bubble and took no responsibility when the market collapsed. They are more than happy to do it again, as yet another bubble is being artificially inflated….

The question remains will they ever learn, or more importantly will the gullible who bought into the last bubble, learn from their mistakes?

Anyone?

Yeah, I don’t get this either. Is Louis suggesting the CSO data is incorrect? Or that the IT shouldn’t report it?

Plenty to criticise in the IT Property section, but this ain’t it.

I seem to recall in the census, there was approximately 36,000 vacant properties in the city….. ?

Interestingly, I haven’t seen any articles in The IT asking whether there is market manipulation and concerted practices at operation in the property market when there’s more than enough circumstantial evidence to raise a reasonable suspicion.

    “will they ever learn”

What they leaned was there’s money in aspirational style property advertising. Only about 10% of the people reading the property section can afford what’s featured in it. But they like to be seen perusing it. It’s like people who stop to look at estate windows in Dublin 4. As if.
