They had to complete the archaeological dig first.
Once that was done, the mounds were marked out & placed. And left over winter to bed down.
Nature takes a while.
Did they find anything of interest?
Some Tennents cans with scantily clad ladies on the side.
Heard something about evidence of early industry like leather work & pottery type stuff.
‘Páirc Phoiblí Nua’
Such unadulterated man juice….I feel like throwing up
That said, the idea of a new park in the city is a wonderful thing. No doubt there are more than a few developers smarting from the loss of a prime piece of real estate…..:-P
Thanks, Dub! Makes sense.
Those who swallow in the Northside/Southsided mythology wont get the irony of one Southside neigbourhood taking a dig at another.
Ba-dum-tish! :)
It may be a fair point.
DLR CoCo are much better at public parks than DCC in my experience.
This is the first purpose built park DCC have ever created. All others were donated to the city.
That’s interesting, ta.
Good to know theres some chance of it getting finished. St Patricks park is of my personal favourites in the city
given a choice between phoenix park v marley park, i’d probably choose the phoenix park.
:) more likely it would take even longer out there due to the 100+ planning objections from various retired “concerned citizens”, an taisce etc. regarding potential impact on the streetscape (aka nimby) being that it’s adjacent to the boundaries of the ACA and all blah blah
that park will make a well needed improvement to the area when it’s finished, lovely!
it’ll make a much needed improvement for around 6 weeks – but it may not take the locals that long to wreck it and turn it into a magnet for antisocial behaviour
…..just ‘Ban The Cans’ and ‘The Junkies’. Police it properly, and it will be fine.
Don’t agree. You’d still be mugged quicker on Cork Street than Dalkey and by a worse class of skanger.
Don’t a couple of the bankers who mugged the country comprehensively live in Dalkey?
Which ones? Or you just made that up? Or you’re just wondering?
