What is she going to say? Brexit will be great but no I will not be taking questions as I don’t know the answers. We haven’t got beyond out means out as a policy yet.

      Precisely.
If TM wanted to speak directly to the Irish government she’d contact Angela Merkel.
      Wahaay !

Why would she want to? Brexit’s the elephant in the room, I think the world and its spouse/life-partner know that it’ll have no upside for Ireland, and probably plenty of downside. If she addresses the Dail, she has to acknowledge this, and she has to acknowledge just how unprepared her government is for it.

She’d be daft to go within an asses roar of the Dail; heck she’s daft to be even coming here. I don’t mean that she’s unwelcome – i’m all for good relations with The Neighbours but you just know she’s not going to be drawn on anything of any consequence close to a live microphone.

      Yep.

And if our government need her to tell us how fupped we’re going to be, things are even worse than they seem.

has somebody not explained to him that Ireland is a corrupt backwater at the arse-end of the EU and not the centre of the universe

You know what? Every country is corrupt. I HATE THIS COUNTRY, IT’S SO CORRUPT! So you up and leave and go to, erm, where? The world stinks. We’re actually not so bad here, given what we’re looking at in the news.

I used to think Ireland was a corrupt backwater, run by largely incompetent and slightly corrupt eejits. But looking at Theresa May and that American chap, and their grinning associates, I now realise that (by comparison) Ireland’s rulers are intellectual giants with a genuine interest in the future of the country and the wider world.

        I sort of agree, Sparks.

All the absoute bullsh!t in the UK makes our parochial, petty-minded system look amazing.

it’s almost as if the irish government is an unimportant non-entity on the global politic stage

Kneejerk tweet. I’m pretty sure Ireland is part of May’s agenda for 2017, once Storming install and brief the relevant (and new) office-holders. Remember folks (in private companies), these things take time in public office. Windows 7 needs to be installed to synchronize meeting invites.

In fairness, she’d have a hard time finding a slot when the Dail was actually open and not on holidays.
