A scandal that would lead to mass resignations in any other civilised country will be settled through an internal party ‘deal’ in Ireland – zero honour, standards, dignity in Irish politics, yet they wonder why people have such contempt for them. Sickening.

    Hold on a moment…

Shouldn’t the focus be on the likes of Noirin O’Sullivan being fired from her position as Garda Commissioner and a clearing out of the senior management.

Kenny will go, but can they not get rid of O’Sullivan and her ilk first?

It would involve wide-scale root and branch reforms throughout the organisation. Hey, guess what sort of process Irish governments never ever initiate, whether it’s local government, the health service, planning, the property market, Dail, Seanad, or the rota for washing the feckin dishes?

The starry optimism that a reform-minded government will one day take power is what helps some people get out of bed in the morning.

Nigel, stop making me cry. I think in the deepest darkest parts of our hearts we know truth :(

Diverting the discourse a bit here? I couldn’t give a toss about Endas future or which parasitic creature replaces him. Lets get to the bottom of who’s been using state bodies to destroy whistle blowers please.

I think a case can be made that you’ll never get a proper answer to that without a major political shake-up which, to be honest, neither a leadership change nor a snap election are likely to bring about, but they’ll keep everyone looking busy for a while.

      +1 Eoin

I’m all for a bit of unfocused moaning about all & sundry but I want to know the name of the person who ‘accidentally’ copied & pasted child abuse allegations into McCabe’s file. I want to know who thought to delete that & then reinstate it.

I want to know which Guards spread rumours on the matter.

I want to know why the Guards didn’t deal with McCabe more competenly, why they tried to discredit him rather than deal with what seemed like a local Cavan problem. Even if they were malicious, why were they so stupid?

I want to understand why GSOC et al didn’t take McCabe seriously.

Where laws have been broken, I want to see prosecutions.
