Further to an earlier post of a poem by Kevin Higgins.

Inspired by the Glenamaddy pastoral council in Galway providing a drive-thru service for Ash Wednesday.

The Farmers Journal writes:

The service ran from 8am to 9.30am for those commuting to work or bringing children to school. One of the people behind the initiative, Fr Paddy Mooney said the inaugural year of the Ash Wednesday drive-through was well attended.

“There was a big crowd around – we couldn’t get over it,” he told the Irish Farmers Journal. “We had everything from bikes to tractors. It was a busy day, and a fine day for it.

IN fairness, they’re not the brightest; they types who wave to Mammy from the Late Late Show audience; from behind the terminally ill child making the case for the availability of life-saving drugs.

It’s it terrible when your parents are first cousins.

What a a load of hocus-pocus BS. The carbon footprint of those boggers driving around in their vehicles alone makes this a shoot on sight event.

What next? Holy Communion via Deliveroo?

There you have it folks: if you drive a car, and let a man rub some carbon on your forehead, you deserve to be shot.

Not for me but I know many that take this stuff seriously, so fair enough. Here in Africa it’s not who got the ashes but who got circumcised….ah, male and female I add…..so a bit of ash on the forehead is not the cruelest way to say you’re a follower.

Could they got just get the word ASH tattooed on their foreheads. Actually, foreskins would be a better place.

      I know right?

Muslims and atheists don’t even get state aid to abuse kids. It’s total theocracy in action!!!!one111!

Mortality may lie in wait around the next sharp corner. Switch off your smartphone and drive with serene focus.

I believe this is an example of the Catholic Church getting the women to do the humdrum pastoral work on the ground (and in tractors), unpaid and with no prospects of promotion, while her seniors are all male and languish in luxury and privilege.

In photo #4 we see a female minister of the eucharist climbing up the tractor step to place blessed ashes on the forehead of the driver. She would be a lay member of the parish who is assisting the priest in this pioneering pastoral outreach on the solemn day of Ash Wednesday.
