We’re not really, in fact, I don’t think we care all that much. What we are proud of is coaxing Americans’ to us like sirens on rocks.

That’s definitely true but the fact that we have a museum dedicated to the fact that a ship that sunk carried some Irish people is a bit over the top imo.

You do know that it was built in Belfast, right? And its last stop before sinking was Cobh?
The Titanic shaped ship building, operation and management to what we see today.
It was pivotal in the industry, and Ireland was at the center of it.

I’m well aware of the significance Ireland had in the building and journey of the Titanic but surely the ships proceeding that pivotal influence are more noteworthy.

Agreed. Perhaps someone should build a museum for the latter, ideally at the location of the former.
An American visitor commented to me, after visiting Cobh, that this country is “way too proud of it’s connection to the Titanic”. She was right.
Wait until she goes past ‘Obama Plaza’ on the M7, then she’ll know just how far we’re willing to stretch a connection and milk it for passing trade.

You’re right. The concentration camps and Ellis Island should also be closed and James Cameron should hand back them Oscars too.
They are both closed. They’ve been reopened as tourist attractions.
Great for coaxing tourists in like sirens on rocks.
“Hubris”. Odd name for a car.
