named in honor of the victory of the red army at Stalingrad
The Soviets were on the Allied side in the war. Stalingrad was a major battle and turning point that in the long run helped win back much of western Europe from the Germans. I don’t really see the issue? There’s a Stalingrad in Bordeaux as well, and I’m sure other places.

There’s a “Stalin Road” in Colchester in England. Its next to Roosevelt Way.
There’s also a Stalingrad area in Paris, and a metro stop called it too!

Not only were the Russians on the allied side, the ware would definitely have been lost without the Russians pouring troops into it; something like 23 million Russians were killed. In effect, it was the Russians and the also-rans.
