      That’s more of a Dublin phenomenon (do do be doobie). To my knowledge it’s never really ventured beyond the Pale.

        Actually, speaking of which, what’s the deal with always having the same statue in two windows above each other? Usually it’s the sitting room and the master bedroom. I’ve even seen houses where they had the same fake flowers in the same vase, on two floors.

    anyway, there were 9 of those in my Irish-American home, including the mary-shaped bottle of holy water.

      Yeah, where’s that headless horror? And the bag of clothes pegs, and the ball of carefully-wrapped string spilling from the dresser drawer, and the broom, and the copy of All in the Cooking?
