I’m telling you that climate change is real. This cold snap is being caused by temperatures in the arctic hitting 30 degrees (that’s centigrade) above normal. While this sort of heating in itself is not unheard of it’s deeper and longer than previous such events with a record 61 hours of temperatures above freezing recorded so far this year. Sea ice is retreating in Winter. This allows warmer air to travel further north which raises the temperature there.
In a nutshell, this cold snap has been caused by CO2 warming the atmosphere so yes, the same CO2 that causes the heating is indirectly responsible for this.
A cold day doesn’t meant no global warming any more than a hot day is proof of it. Between 1980 and 2010 this happened in just 4 winters. It has now happened in 4 of the last 5 winters. It’s by studying long term trends that we can see the clear evidence for global warming/climate change and extreme weather events like this are a result.

Is it relevant? perhaps to some, I’m more concerned with fudged figures and IPCC forecasts which consistently have to revised back, that’s just bad lab practice and shouldn’t at that level within the IPCC, the top IPCC scientist was caught lying about forecasts, why was he lying?

Yes Janet, I’m not a climate scientist though so I’ve limited scope.. my view on the ice caps seeing as that was brought up by Bertie, the North Atlantic plateau has been spewing hot air from earth’s core since the age of dinosaurs, it’s theorized that the NAP occurred due to a meteorite storm, as such the hot air is immediately transformed into water, this phenomenon has been happening for millions of years and all water levels have risen steadily, that’s why the continents have been drifting apart and can fit together like a jigsaw, the earth is swelling with excess water, the ice caps are becoming bigger and the resultant is longer years, that’s why we have 365 days in the year as oppose to 360 which it originally was, the global temperature has moved half a degree in 40 years, in scientific terms this is known as error plus or minus, so in my view man is not affecting temperature, the water purity is being harmed though and care needs to be taken to ensure vital fish stock and plankton must be maintained, the knock on effect on the marine food chain will affect man in a variety of ways. That can be achieved as seen in Norway with salmon reserves.

Fair enough. I am no scientist and my background is much more arts based so what I do know about climate is based on what I read nowadays and what I learned in Geography and science in school. So, limited. I wouldn’t feel qualified to get into the nitty gritty of it with anyone.
Still, I’d be interested in knowing why you think there is an invested interest in pushing global warming, but as you said, maybe it is an argument for another day/thread.

The scientist in that short clip sure does know what he’s talking about but you don’t want to hear him or any of the vast majority of scientists who agree with him because that would mean accepting the reality of climate change.
The IPCC fudged figures almost a decade ago. That has no relevance to the figures I mentioned, which did not come from the IPCC and were taken in 2018. Off you go now and find a YouTube clip that shows the temperature in the North Pole right now is normal.
