In light of today’s statement from a Porton Down spokesman, that the lab does not have the means to verify that Russia is the source of the nerve agent, UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has now been exposed as lying in an earlier interview (surprise surprise). Makes our own government look all the more foolish for taking sides before a proper independent investigation has been carried out.

“You argue that the source of this nerve agent, Novichok, is Russia. How did you manage to find it out so quickly? Does Britain possess samples of it?

BJ: Let me be clear with you … When I look at the evidence, I mean the people from Porton Down, the laboratory …

So they have the samples …

BJ: They do. And they were absolutely categorical and I asked the guy myself, I said, “Are you sure?” And he said there’s no doubt. ”

I heard the Russian ambassador on Morning Ireland today and he was adamant that Russia was not involved. He sounded quite reasonable too. Why, though, were various jocks on Russian radio all but claiming responsibility in the ‘this is what happens to traitors’ vein?

Oh but quick.. look over there at that false flag in NSA owned YouTube.. forget about that Salisbury stuff that’s so yesterday..

      1. david

        Oh but it is not
The fact little Leo verruca expelled a Russian diplomat has implications for Ireland mainly trade and relations.

Still, sure it allowed May to show the moggys that the EU still have their back… for now.

I’d take this healthy skepticism more seriously if it weren’t coming from people who think it was actually a flase-flag dirty trick by the British hoping to start a war with a nuclear power and the evidence for this is the Dirty Iraq Dossier.

      1. SOQ

False flag or not, the rush to create an international incident without knowing all the facts makes for questionable leadership. At the very least they should have waited until the relevant experts gave their opinions. It does not inspire confidence in their abilities to negotiate a successful outcome to Brexit.

        1. Nigel

But they were looking strong and forceful there for a few minutes. How anyone could look at that lot and conclude they must be machiavellian masters of false flag operations is beyond me.

Who’s concluding what now? We now know that all that’s needed to produce the Novichok agents would be access to a top of the range lab. The recipe and ingredients are readily available – if indeed this brand of nerve agent was used at all – there’s plenty of reasons to be sceptical of that narrative too.
Either way, there’s a number of potential suspects with an axe to grind against Russia – could be rogue elements from the intelligence services of various NATO member states (UK included), Mossad, even Russian mafia?
I’m just speculating here, but with so many apparent holes in the UK govt’s story and their rush to blame Russia, one has to wonder was it all just a hastily conceived narrative drawn up in the aftermath of the incident. “Russia did it!” is the easy go to option rather than expose a much more inconvenient truth.
I see the UK Foreign Office has now deleted a previous tweet blaming Russia. Pretty fishy.

And I said that before Nigel when I stated the Brits could of killed him
        He was a double agent
        I stated Dr Kelly
        You laughed at me

And what about little Leo verruca and his Ireland’s got talent cabinet?
From day one this stunk to high heaven and I was lambasted by the usual trolls for my views.
I am convinced that these boards are being used by government to spread fake news.
We need now to be told what did little Leo verruca base his decision to dispel a Russian diplomat which will have implications for trade between Russia and Ireland running into hundreds of millions, in trade under threat.
Its time Mickey martin pulls the plug before these Muppets cause more damage.
I just wonder is the SCUnit sitting at desks blogging all day long ,for if it is they are playing a very dangerous game in the credibility stakes
Tick tock Leo your time is coming to an end.

Why does broadsheet.ie never have the front page of the weekday editions of the Irish Independent?

    1. Bodger

Ciarân, we usually have it up by 9am. They don’t send it in so we have to get it when it is available on their digital whatsit.

        1. Bodger

Topsy, it was usually posted to their site around midnight-1am, now around 5am. They have never sent us their cover despite several requests over many years.

    Irish Times – “Gunwoman”?

Is that even a word? How about “shooter”. What relevance is gender in this case?

    1. Lilly

Apparently it’s extremely rare for a woman to go on a shooting spree, so yes, it’s relevant.

      1. Gay Tea Shop

Surely “extremely rare for vegans to go on shooting sprees” is about as relevant.

        1. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

Only 3.8% of shootings are carried out by women–I think that’s just in the States.

Those sheep-goat hybrid lambkids are just dotey. I didn’t really need to hear the bit about it being the result of a week-long tryst between the lady’s nanny-goat and a horny ram though.

As a woman and a person of color in many ways she was the biggest victim in all of this, we need to put this incident in the past and just move on and forget about it.

    1. Brother Barnabas

i thought you were prefacing your opinion with “As a woman and a person of colour” and i immediately thought, “jimmy russell is a black lady.. well i never”

    2. david

Yep the victim who put the culprits into an early grave?
I bet she felt very empowered by that?

      1. david

I see papi you like the walking dead?
Is it because you empathise with the walkers fellows brain dead like yourself?
