‘Very Good Parentage’

Small ads for St Patrick’s Guild adoption agency from yesterday’s Irish Examiner

Ciaran Tierney writes:

Amazing how the children available for adoption were advertised as being of “very good parentage” by the very people who had seized them from their “shamed” or “sinful” mothers…

I like the one about how ‘Legal adoption can be arranged’ As if that didn’t send up some red flags about this crowd.

Yeah, first thing I noticed. And that’s on all the ads from St. Anne’s Adoption Society, Lough Presbytery, Cork.

It reads to me like “Well, if that’s what you want, we CAN do it legally. But we don’t have to that, do we? [nudge][nudge][wink][wink]”

Maybe it should be Very Good Grandparentage” because the mother is obviously just a dirty hoor who couldn’t keep her legs together.
