Seatown Road, Swords, County Dublin

Anyone know why these 10 gaffs around the corner from Fingal County Council have been vacant for the past 4 months given the housing crisis we are currently experiencing?
They nearly all have cars parked outside them to make them look inhabited too.
They were originally owned by the solicitor Mr Shannon before Nama took them over.
Fingal Lettings & Property is currently looking after them and there is talk that they may have passed hands many times over the past 8 years…
Anyone?

they are zoned commercial. Maybe the owner doesn’t want or need the hassle of tenants, who would blame them?
Me.
Maybe they’re reserving them like Galway CoCo for mates’ rates purchases.

commercial properties, will be demolished and the land developed for retail and commercial. tenants are way too much hassle.
It’s right for you to raise this but it is important to note that the scandal involves Galway City Council and not Galway County Council.
that area is zoned town centre, obviously planning to build shops and/or apartments see the Swords Master plan http://www.fingalcoco.ie/planning-and-buildings/swordsculturalquartermasterplan/
obviously they should continue to be let out until they are actually ready to knock and build
While this sounds like the right thing to do, it might not be worth the risk of one tenant overholding and holding the development up by 2 years, give or take, while the developers attempt to secure an eviction.
6 month tenancies? summer students anything
The Gaffs Around the Corner; wasn’t that Paddy Crosby’s old programme – (younger readers ask yer daddy).
I remember the theme tune:
Oh the Gaffs Around the Corner are just the same.
Uninhabited with no-one ‘round to blame.
Changed hands since they were built,
Now they’re NAMA’ed to the hilt,
Oh the Gaffs Around the Corner are just the same.
…bravo
applause for Paulus :)
If these properties have passed hands numerous times past 8 years , it would be worth your while go to King’s Lynn public property records and check who has purchased and sold on . You need to give exact house no + name of road and each check costs around 5 euro.
not the residential property price register?
I think the cars are Fingal COCO employees.*
