Jaysus, that picture made me avoid swallowing my coffee!

Nice to hear about Squee though.

You’re persistent, which I like, but that makes me think of herpes, which I don’t.

It’s a conflicting state of affairs and conflict, as we all know, can only be successfully solved with biscuits.

          1. Brother Barnabas

            He has chosen death: Refusing to eat or drink, that he may bring Disgrace upon me;
for there is a custom, An old and foolish custom, that if a man Be wronged, or think that he is wronged, and starve Upon another’s threshold till he die, The common people, for all time to come, Will raise a heavy cry against that threshold, Even though it be the King’s.

          2. Yep

            Oohhhhhhhh that was fancy!

I’m sorry you had to get involved in this Mildred. I’m really doing it for Barnabas as much as for myself at this point. His ego is clearly out of control and feel it he allows himself to forgive past mistakes he will grow and become a better man.

He will truly be worthy of a crown and the respect from all in his….kingdom or whatever.

            Sorry about the herpes.

that’s a most kindly – even benevolent – position you’re adopting, Yep. and i, of course, commend you for that. i note that it’s a far more kindly and benevolent position than the one you adopted towards that young woman a number of months ago, from that, i think we can surmise that you’ve grown as a person. you are now a better girl/boy/man/woman. i think we can safely and happily say you have learned your lesson. i forgive you your trespasses against me. try now to live a good life, free of sin and transgression.

          4. Yep

Therein lies the problem. Your total mischaracterization of my comments about the Ulster rape trial and unwillingness to prove what you claim.

It’s not a healthy way to be. I genuinely believe it will help in the long run to take a step back and question how you come to these conclusions. Objectivity is your friend.

Again, nobody will hold it against you if you let truth be your teacher. I have been mean. I admit that and do regret it as it becomes clearer you have seem deep trauma that keeps you in this protective shell of lies.

You’re in a a safe place. Go back and read the comments with this in mind.

          5. Brother Barnabas

sorry, Yep, but i hereby withdraw my forgiveness. you’re back to being a lowlife sinner in my eyes.

        2. Yep

You need to forgive yourself Brother. Learn from these things. Don’t put the wall back up.

          1. Brother Barnabas

            that would be nice, rp

but it’s tough when you’re dealing with a veritable rogue with very questionable ethical standards

          2. Yep

Well I have to stop now as the vindication I was seeking will clearly never be won. I’m sorry it became something others began to notice and I’m sure began to annoy. I was beginning to annoy me.

I just hope that in seeing how Brother behaves when pushed to defend his slanderous comments, his questionable character has become even more questionable. Dangerous even. Regressive certainly.

But please don’t stop “laughing” at his giant penis jokes. I fear without that positive feedback he could spiral even further into his own mind. Where truth is subjective and he looks like River Phoenix.

            Thank you for your time.

          3. Brother Barnabas

it would be easier just to retract your shameful comment about the victim in the belfast rape trial…

          4. realPolithicks

I think everyone has had their say at this point, why don’t we just move along and pretend this unfortunate episode never occurred.

    2. The Old Boy

It is usual for a president seeking a second term to run as an independent as they are self-nominated and supposedly above party politics once in office. Mary McAleese did the same.

  2. theo kretschmar schuldorff

Michael D has earned substantial pension entitlements for his ~40 years in public office.
Don’t we save a heap of money that would otherwise be paid after his retirement if he’s willing to keep going in the Aras?

    1. bob

Yeah, that’s my best reason for giving him another term (uncontested preferably)… The presidential pension alone is massive, so oldest candidates will be getting my vote from now on :-D

  3. Spaghetti Hoop

No harm in his candidacy, but I’m glad of a democractic presidential election again. Senator Gerard Craughwell is mooching for a nomination I believe – not very convincing. Who else? Some level of shennanigans and dirt-digging the last time round – probably has put off candidates with certain wardrobe-dwelling skeletons.

  4. bisted

…it was one of Squees labour colleagues who admitted that lying to the electorate was one of the things you tended to do during an election…to claim to be an independant when he has demonstrated that he is merely a labour factotum is blatantly dishonest…

    1. ReproBertie

      FFS. This red herring again.

Going into an election Labour made a promise on child benefit. After the election, one where they didn’t win an overall majority and had to negotiate a programme for government in the face of a recession, Pat Rabbitte was accused of misleading the public because Labour had not explained that their promise on child benefit was dependant on the economy and an overall majority. He pointed out that nobody goes into an election highlighting that their promises are dependant on outside factors remaining the same and half wits jump up and down about how he admitted Labour lied to the electorate.

      1. bisted

…you call me a half-wit and I admit I still feel shame at the way I was taken in by labour…they betrayed their supporters for power and pensions…

        1. mildred st meadowlark

Heady temptations indeed. Let us never forget the example of Alan ‘power is a drug’ Kelly and his sorry tale of woe.*

*he was asking for it, the great ninny

  5. Catherine costelloe

Michael D ‘s love of our native language has really impressed me, has a beautiful melodious Irish lilt. Gets my vote!
