Insourcing From Emerging Economies

at

The Cathedral of the Assumption, Tuam

Four priests from India are to be appointed to address a shortage of priests in the Archdiocese of Tuam and the increasing age of the clerical population.

There is an over-supply of Catholic priests in India at the moment and they are available to help out here,” a source explained.

Apart from Tuam, other dioceses are bringing in priests from India in a bid to tackle the issue of retirements and a drop in vocations.

great workers altogether, and sure you only have to pay them a third of what an irish priest costs.

Is confession outsourced to a call-centre in India too?

There’s no reason that you couldn’t do that remotely….

“How long since your last confession? For less than a week press 1, for less than a fortnight press 2, for…”

“For venal sins press 4, for mortal sins press 5, for…”

I think that’s probably racist but it’s funny. So I’m laughing in a tsk tsk way.

Same here. I loved that book. I’ve mostly forgotten the intricacies of the plot, luckily, so I’m not bogged down with inconsistencies if there are any.
I started watching it dubbed (which I think is what it’s set to). It was hard to follow so I went online. Vikram Chandra himself said to turn it to Hindi audio with English subtitles. Immeasurably better watching experience, I think.

Same with the German show ‘Dark’ , much better in German with English subtitles than it is dubbed.
