Pope Francis

“If one member suffers, all suffer together with it” (1 Cor 12:26). These words of Saint Paul forcefully echo in my heart as I acknowledge once more the suffering endured by many minors due to sexual abuse, the abuse of power and the abuse of conscience perpetrated by a significant number of clerics and consecrated persons.

Crimes that inflict deep wounds of pain and powerlessness, primarily among the victims, but also in their family members and in the larger community of believers and nonbelievers alike.

Looking back to the past, no effort to beg pardon and to seek to repair the harm done will ever be sufficient. Looking ahead to the future, no effort must be spared to create a culture able to prevent such situations from happening, but also to prevent the possibility of their being covered up and perpetuated.

The pain of the victims and their families is also our pain, and so it is urgent that we once more reaffirm our commitment to ensure the protection of minors and of vulnerable adults.”

Acknowledges and shares victims’ pain (again), but doesn’t apologise for it. The usual mealy mouth nothings.

As usual its just words, concrete actions are whats needed but I won’t hold my breath.

“With shame and repentance, we acknowledge as an ecclesial community that we were not where we should have been, that we did not act in a timely manner, realizing the magnitude and the gravity of the damage done to so many lives. We showed no care for the little ones; we abandoned them…….

……It is essential that we, as a Church, be able to acknowledge and condemn, with sorrow and shame, the atrocities perpetrated by consecrated persons, clerics, and all those entrusted with the mission of watching over and caring for those most vulnerable. Let us beg forgiveness for our own sins and the sins of others.”

Agreed, it’s just words. But does address what went on. In fairness, the letter itself says that “no effort to beg pardon and to seek to repair the harm done will ever be sufficient.” Which is true.

The attempt to make it #allcatholicsmatter is a bit trite. “We’re all in pain here, not just the rape victims, okay?” And still no sign of the actual word “sorry” though. It’s another one of those carefully crafted “If you were offended…” non apologies.

      2. realPolithicks

That’s a bunch of BS, talk is cheap, action is what is needed but that won’t happen because no real pressure is being put on these jokers to take make any real changes. All they ever do is make these meaningless apologies when some fresh scandal breaks knowing that if they bide their time the issue will pass by until the next time.

My hole it does.. they would be adopting real measures to stop this.. but they don’t because deep down they just don’t see the problem ..

I’ll believe it when I see it Frank

AFAIK.. In the wake of the recent Pennsylvania investigation into over a thousand child rape victims it’s been said that the vatican rogue state purposely don’t even keep records of the hundreds of child rapists they have known and dealt with even ones repeatedly over the years.

So, they can’t even account for most of the child rapists outside of relying on certain individuals own experience, knowledge or memory of previous incidents going back decades.

Think about that for a minute… beyond knowing, beyond acting, beyond caring, beyond a whole lot more..
It’s wilfull, intentional, turning a blind eye to mass multi-generational repeated child rape and abuse on a grand scale and it’s still continues to this day.

Ahh nevermind, their not all the same and it’s time to celebrate the world meeting of child rape and abuse of families in the name of Jesus who probably was a real person at some point and his father is a celestial dictator who wants you to be happy but will punish you with brutality, violence and torture in place called hell at a moments notice if you disobey his confusing piece-meal, repeatedly edited pseudo-autobiographical book about human morality or dare cross him in any way…

…but your God loves you and he needs money.

Why would the Vatican keep records on abusers in Pennsylvanian dioceses? If things are to be done properly, it requires every bishop and diocese to proactively protect children and adults, manage any convicted abusers upon release from prison and care for those abused. Not post the names to Rome to wait for further instructions.

Is not Rome the head of the church?
and the pope Christ’s representative on earth ?
you can’t have it both ways..man up
          take responsibility, clean your house
if you ever want your church to survive people knowing it for the evil it is

            Your wasting your time….

Religion will always exist, if it doesn’t evolve, humanity will die. At least for the next few decades or even another century,

Who knows, maybe in a few decades it will be replaced with humanoid Tom Cruise, cloned as an infinite number of spiritual leaders and humanity will all be selling property to one another while worshiping the shrine of the crying chair apartment that still costs 500% of the average working monthly income.

All this religulessness has to persist otherwise all the dumbest most ignorant useless humans will lose all hope in the face of having a lack of one original thought and then will stop procreating.

If that happens which it won’t, were all totally dependant on the machines, biological then ultimately mechanical, and we’ll end up eternally binge watching netflix while eating copious amounts of random salty and spicy corporate trash from an alternate universe version of 1984, written by Philip K. Dick and starring the AI sentient robot incarnation of Nicholas Cage that’s directed by an evil version of a Stanley Kubrick hologram.

I know it sounds bleak apart from Nicholas Cage but look on the bright side… You’ll stop caring soon and most likely be dead before you make it to a hundred.

Meanwhile the raping will continue until morale improves…

            Eamonn to that…

        ?………………….

        You’re reading into something I haven’t even said…

However, to answer your point, why would they wait to be proactive until offenders are released from prison if they were known to be guilty in the first place?

Your argument assumes they need to be found guilty and prosecuted under normal human laws before being considered relevent to the catholic church remoteley controlled and excused of all “sins” (their word not mine) by the rogue state of the vatican.

If I’m misinterpreting your logic or incorrect in some way, please enlighten me.

Yours truly, your one and only god of hellfire and toated bread and chees treats…

It’s not wilful evasion if they engage in doing it. I can’t see any reasonable explanation for how they have and are behaving except that they really think it’s ok..

      1. :-Joe

        It’s simple…

Take “homelessness” which should really be called houselessness because a home is an abstract concept like “Love” .

If the government CARED one fupping IOTA enough about unfortunate people who have no homes and the fact that they know they have coerced and convinced the willfully ignorant majority of followeres who vote for them in this country to go along with the charade… then they would do something about the problem and decide maybe dumbing down the majority was not such a good idea after all.

Your only one step away from raping kids being normal when you think of fellow humans as trash.

The catholic church knows this, you are meaningless, you don’t matter, they own you and you don’t even realise it.

Me, I’m not too worried because I know I am no more significant than an ant.
-Take from that what you like…

  4. Truth in the News

Its not that they did not know, its that they didn;t want us all to know what they
concealed and hid for generations, why should it take a Grand Jury Report in PA to
elicit a belated Vatican response, they have been aware of all this over the
    tenure of least 6 Popes.
This can be very quickly solved if those in the laity stop paying, and there
is little point in going to the Parks or Knock….by their presence and ambivalence
they accept whats going on….evil will flourish when good people say nothing and
    stay silent:

    1. :-Joe

I agree with your heartfelt sentiment but you’re way off….

The laity are mostly too old or too brainwashed and to disenfranchised or disempowered through institutionalisation to do anything…

Apart from a few quitely retreating and disillusioned folk, what would you expect them to do at this stage?…

At best, the few that would even consider it, would only give in and try to remain and repair the issues out of stubborn belief in the ingrained ideology and that’s fine, many are good, honest, decent people but just past the point of starting over. Sad, unfortunately true and I hope to be proven wrong.

You don’t clear away unwanted weeds by plucking the flowers..

Stop teching ignorance, obedience and the unquestioning belief in oppressive idealogical systems to children.

Tell them at speaking age that rapists sometimes look like friendly old male cross-dressers who hang around in haunted buildings with shiny objects and the universe is far more interesting and has way more to offer than jesus’s factually incorrect annual birthday.

The whole santa charade is just as bad or even worse in many ways but each to their own…. kids are a f-ing nightmare most of the time so what can you do.
