We’re witnessing the disintegration of the UK before our eyes and across the front pages of all the British newspapers. Parliament is falling into total disrepute.

How long before British citizens take matters into their own hands….

“It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place,
which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice.

Ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government.

Ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess?

Ye have no more religion than my horse. Gold is your God. Which of you have not bartered your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defiled this sacred place, and turned the Lord’s temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices?

Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation. You were deputed here by the people to get grievances redressed, are yourselves become the greatest grievance.

Your country therefore calls upon me to cleanse this Augean stable, by putting a final period to your iniquitous proceedings in this House; and which by God’s help, and the strength he has given me, I am now come to do.

I command ye therefore, upon the peril of your lives, to depart immediately out of this place.

Go, get you out! Make haste! Ye venal slaves be gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.

In the name of God, go!”

How little has changed since the time of Cromwell. A speech as apt today as it ever was – particularly in Ireland.

Another vote is an affront to democracy says the very same people who are threatening all sorts of civil unrest if they don’t get their way.

    mmm…
still decent odds available on £ to € parity…3/1 anytime in 2019 has to be worth a couple of bob

Say for arguments sake I was a tremendous eejit, and I asked you to explain that more plainly. Buy sterling now, actual cash in the paw, hang on to it, then what? I get a profit of one to three?

…ok…I have some sterling in an account that I use for leisure/holidays…most of the places I have been or am likely to go use euro…I was a tremendous eejit that I didn’t change to euro a few years back when the exchange reached 1 euro=70p. The 3/1 offered lets me have a small wager to cover further loses should sterling nosedive and the UK devalue it’s currency like it did years ago…

You might consider this reckless but if I don’t draw I won’t be calling on the taxpayer to bail me out.

        @papi

just get yerself down to PaddyPower, they’re running a Brexit special

one of the bets is that Sterling will reach 1:1 parity with the Euro sometime/anytime in 2019

        place your wager at 3/1

better chance I reckon than the Grand National that you’ll collect a nice little earner…practically speaking if you have any UK plans for say the holliers you’d maybe cover the loss in any Sterling drop

Another cracking House of Commons photo there on The Guardian. We are indeed witnessing a precarious period in British politics. The 3-day rule passed yesterday for tabling a motion for ‘Plan B’ was quite significant in bringing back some shred of credibility to the House. Given our own government’s can-kicking habits, I wonder if similar can be applied in our Oireactas for time-critical issues?
Bercow gets more stately and cavalier as this crisis rolls on. Eye on the top job perhaps.

Jeff Bezos wife (ex) soon to be the richest woman in the world?? Really, is she getting half of his fortune? Thats some crazy stuff America, so all a woman has to do to become super rich is marry a super rich man, then divorce? Thats a fine example for women in the 21st Century. What do feminists think of this? Seems to go against everything about women being empowered through hard work and talent. However difficullt, or painful it was to be married to Jeff, I don’t think it was worth €110 Billion! What is the logic here?

The dirty fecker! After 25 years of marriage? I suppose he’s already begun moving into his Rupert Murdoch stage. I predict another 3 or 4 marriages so, and the last wife will have to learn how to change his nappy at 104 years old.
