It is, as reported “provisional”. I thought ya might bare with my legal lingo ignorance on the correct terminology used and just answer the question…. can ya do that Dav, no? If not, pish off then, like a good lad :0p’

Her predecessor Frank Flannery, FG , may well have been on 240,000 + company car as well + pension but plebs are not allowed to ask him questions. It’s how Ireland works.

Boradband- Why should it have to go to every home in Ireland and why had it to be a single project?

Population / business density should surely dictate who and what gets it first. I don’t understand this all or nothing approach. It makes good headlines for the politicians but not a lot of sense otherwise.

It has to go nationwide because of citizenship and equal opportunities. The seaweed farmer on Inis Oirr has just as much right to broadband services as the student in Ranelagh.

          1. Cian

Broadband is neither essential nor a public service.

The seaweed farmer on Inis Oirr doesn’t have a hospital, or a Garda station, or fire station, or a bus service, or motorway. Hell, it only got ESB in 1973!

Oh really? NUTS. Now I look like a xenophobe/moron/both instead of an hilarious wit.

The Comptroller and Auditor General says our annual contribution to the EU has gone from €1.2 billion in 2012 to what will be more than €3 billion in 2021. Has our economy, population or inflation more than doubled in a decade? No, it has not.

      https://www.audit.gov.ie/en/Find-Report/Publications/Special%20Reports/Special%20Report%20105%20-%20Ireland’s%20Transactions%20with%20the%20EU%20in%202017.html

And that excludes the extra €4 billion we’ll have to start spending each year on defence as a result of signing up to PESCO.

          1. Cian

Go ahead screenshot this. Although perhaps ‘never’ was too strong – I can’t predict inflation.

We currently spend under €1bn; there is no way this will ever jump to €5bn (in the next 30 years).

What’s that beside the illegal dump in Ballyvolane? Why, it’s a halting site. Quelled surprise. I’m sure installing video cameras and fencing will deter dumping. What will the fencing me made from?

    1. MaryLou's ArmaLite

Did the residents of the halting site dump 5 tonnes of asbestos beside their site?

      Ain’t karma a b1tch !!!

    2. Rep

Residents said that lorries would arrive and dump stuff. They can do it knowing that peoples prejudice would ensure that the travellers would always get the blame regardless.

I don’t think the papers have captured the significance of yesterday’s judgement at the Supreme Court.

I can imagine the likes of BAM will be looking at it and wondering can they sue Leo for his utterances about “one or two contractors” not getting any more state contracts. Leo denied he was referring to BAM but his denial looked weak. Doesn’t the Dail have rules that you’re not supposed to name third parties who can’t answer for themselves? If a TD breaks that rule, will they now end up in court for doing something “unlawful”?

And what’s the penalty for doing something unlawful? What law do you break exactly?

Methinks the Supreme Court opened a once-in-a-century can of worms yesterday.

    1. Frilly Keane

Not only is he going t’have ta row it back

Leo is also going to have’ta say
      Explicitly
That he should not have commented on the tender/ Procurement process at all

      And that no elected official
      At any level
Should be making comments or engaging with any supplier engaged in activity with a relevant entity, or entering any public tender to supply etc

He’ll need his big boy socks that day

        1. Frilly Keane

          If they can
          They will

Interfering in a publicly tendered contract
And in any Public Procurement Process

Even if it is just sh – rhymes with fight talk

          Is open to action

          And rightly so
          If not
Then we don’t get to complain about a certain someone and his pals getting all the handy big ticket bottomless pit gigs

How are things going with the presidential elections in Nigeria (which could become the next Venezuela).

The incumbent (a good guy) has won. The challenger (a shady businessman who was banned from entering the USA until last month) came in second but is going to challenge the results in court.

What’s it got to do with Trump? Trump’s PR guy is working for the challenger.

The UK has congratulated the winner of the Nigerian election, what’s the USA going to do.
