So, in summary, the Dept of Finance conducted a major review of LPT and decided to 100% ignore its own conclusions lest they interfere with FG’s electoral prospects next month for the locals and European elections and more importantly for what most people believe will be a general election this year once there’s a bit more than fortnight-to-fortnight clarity with Brexit.

FG, ladies and gentlemen. Sleazy broadband contract, scandalous childrens hospital contract, the most expensive social housing (their latest PPP for 534 homes are FIVE times more expensive than the local authority building itself). Populist voodoo economics.

      +1

pure brassneck electioneering/damage limitation tactic and when the subjectmatter re-emerges it won’t be pretty

I used to merely disagree with their fundamentals, ethos. Nowadays I find myself brewing a bit of hatred – the killer for me is I have nobody natural to vote for at this point in a GE scenario…one thing is for certain, my ballot come the time will be engineered to ensure maximum -ve for these clowns

post-elections the “fair and affordable” part will reveal itself to be fair and affordable for the wealthy, and back to fupping over the rest of us. I hate when instead of rolling something back, they push it out a few years, as if it’s not going to matter because it’s further away. Still coming.

Is it not obvious by now that the ‘rental space’ may vote? Mind you, it is their own fault if they don’t.

A new sexy RTE2 slogan for you snappy hurry up folks- The Rental Space©.- Here is a clue- it doesn’t involve landlords.

They’ll be voted out, FF will be voted in, have to jack up the property tax hugely, and then FG will be voted in again

Surely most intelligent people in the country now realize that only parties such as Sinn Féin, PBP, Solidarity , Soc Dems and some reasonable Independents are the only hope this country has of saving it’s soul. FG, FF and Labour and the looney Alliance are dangerous, greedy right wing capitalists who’s soul objectives in power are to feed the corporate monsters that just destroy ordinary countries, ordinary governments, ordinary politicians and ordinary citizens for profit.
They must be stopped and the ballot box is the only chance there is to save this countrys future. Greed is destroying Ireland.

Because it will be even more affordable in 2 years time when house prices are 20% higher and the LPT will be 20% larger. Government will need to jack the min wage by 30%-40% if they want to make it affordable.
