Coot When He’s Mad

at

‘sup?

This morning.

Blessington Street Park (The Basin), Phibsborough, Dublin 7.

A filthy, thieving pigeon gets too close to an Eurasian Coot and its egg-filled nest.

That’ll learn the pigeon.

Probably not.

This morning.

A Cormorant preens itself ahead of fishing in Blessington Street Park.

Lovely plumage, in fairness.

  1. Slightly Bemused

Just like a certain swan of a few days ago, parents get very protective when nesting and fledging. And with mama and papa coot to hand, and potential scavenger beware!

I am curious as to the purpose of the plastic ‘wickerwork’ netting. I am not familiar with the park: is it to create a barrier for floating rubbish, or make artificial pools for fish, or something else entirely? Genuinely curious.
