Local papers around the country are in crisis. Less people are buying them. Why do some people buy the local weekly paper?
    1. Farmers and people in business read the advertisements to monitor property and land prices.
    2. Sports fans – so there is lots of sports coverage.
    3. People like to see their photos in the paper – so weekly papers plaster the pages with photo-ops.
    4. Funny things said in court cases – sometimes printed in Phoenix magazine ‘Bog Cuttings’.
    5. Occasional local news, but no investigative reporting – too many apple carts to upset.
Local papers are short of real news and imagination.
