On The Ray D’Arcy Show

Ahead of his Irish tour later this month, comedian Reginald D. Hunter will be in studio to talk about his new stand up show Facing the Beast.

Comedian and Irishman Abroad podcaster Jarlath Regan shoots the breeze with Ray about life as an ‘Irishman Abroad‘ and he will be making one Irish emigrant’s dream come true by announcing the winner of a €30,000 competition to bring them home…

Seriously? Each of them is on to advertise a book/film/concert/tour/TV programme.

And you just know it’s going to be the faked smile/faked interest you get from an A-list director/actor when they’re doing the umpteenth interview with a local cable TV station. “This is SUCH a good question!”

How much is RTE charging them for the advertising platform? I reckon you could get €10-30k apiece, maybe more if you just let them come on and speak/sing directly to the camera without the €450,000 mediocrity interrupting them.

But eoin – doesn’t EVERY chat show work that way? Graham Norton’s guests are all plugging something or other. Same for Ross. The only difference is that Darcy and Tubbs dont usually get big names because they’re all in Blighty not here. Unlike Reg D Hunter – he’ll be good I’d say and he’ll plug his gig just like he would on Norton or Ross or any other chat show

Yes, the only reason anyone, including A-listers, goes on these shows is to plug something.

I mean, do you expect an actor to go on and say “I haven’t got a film coming out at the moment, I’ve been taking some time off.” ?
