Horslips released their album The Tain in the early ‘seventies and Celtic Rock seemed to be the genre that would rock Ireland and parts of the English-speaking world. It didn’t happen but Donal Lunny and Christy Moore with friends, with the Chieftains, the Dubliners and Na Fili among others, made traditional Irish ballads and instrumentals into something that went around continental Europe, Britain and North America. Best of luck to Horslips today. Where are they musically nowadays?

I agree with you but am pretty sure it was Eric Bell on the guitar, not Gary Moore. Gary was jaw droppingly astonishing on the guitar, but Eric Bell is no slouch himself.

True, and I think it was Eric who came up with the lick. It’s more that it was Moore in the lineup when I became aware of them, so I always associate him with it.

The B-side of Whiskey, Black Boys on the Corner, features some really hot guitar work by Eric.
          Quite a rocker.
