Behold: what was once a 1956 Citroën 2CV – hot-rodded by auto enthusiast Olli Erkkila

Taking the decaying shell of a Deux Chevaux he found in the woods, Olli extended the wheelbase, chopped the roof, reformed the canvas soft top to fit, replaced the original 9bhp 375cc block with an updated 2CV engine and added black spoked wheels from a 1930s Ford – the original ‘hot rod’ of the species.

  1. Slightly Bemused

I went to a motor show at the RDS many years ago when the 2CV Charleston came out. I loved some of the descriptions of it’s features. For example: Central Locking: all doors can be locked from a single central position.

Someone in my estate has one of them, and maintains it well. I really like them. I am a little torn with this modification. For such a basic car anyway it almost steampunks it. But the wheels are nice!
