Such terrible news. Most of us don’t risk our lives to do our daily jobs.
Why was he on duty on his own?

Really, Inspector O’Clouseau ? We’d never have thought that.
I think you should consider adhering to the appeal for a lack of speculation made elsewhere in this thread out of respect to the family.

Why are you trying to score points in a thread about the killing of a police officer ?
Are you that desperate or just plain idiotic ?

          1. scottser

because making reference to people’s deaths to score points on an internet forum is not your style at all is it?
Hypocrisy Quotient is a solid 9.

          2. Charger Salmons

I’ve never used any tragic death on here to try to win some pathetic internet argument.
Why you persist in pursuing this ludicrous and facile line is beyond me.
Seriously, this could be your father, son or brother.
Don’t you have a shred of common decency ?

When the sink drains on this thread the scum level will remain on the rim.

We call them Gardai in this country…Police Officer is on your side of the pond.

Ah, now I get it, Charger wants to be the only scum. He’s doing a bang up job of it, pip, pip!

    Tragedy and RIP

Might have been a row that just got out of hand.

    Agree with Giggidy Goo

    1. A Person

Yep, Goo, you just did it. Equating Garda deaths with the Ra. Shows your true colours. Seriously, you are the worst commentator on here. The Ra is is good, everyone else is bad. Grow up.

      1. GiggidyGoo

Did you read the article in the link you top class gobpoo? And see the point I was making. Is it any wonder that articles you get the treat emend you get?

        1. GiggidyGoo

… articles like you…. (just to be clear)
Now curl up in your baby grow and go back to your cot.

Sick and tired of only ever reading conjecture when this happens. No gun cameras in 2020. No electronic alert when a firearm is drawn. Garda tech decades behind. Tragedy strikes – public have a right to know, no? Squabbles in every comment section but no one has a clue.

For the record last year a Garda executed a kidnapping suspect who was almost certainly guilty, I wanted gun cams then too.

Spare me a “this isn’t the time”. It was the time years ago. The public have a right to know (propaganda pieces like “Inside the K” don’t count).

Does anyone know what type of gun it was ? Seems like a lot of bullets for an ordinary handgun magazine.

Gemma O’D’s theory is that Garda in Castlerea corrupt, in cahoots with drug dealers – took out one of their own, a good guy who was about to blow the lid on something – and that they’re about to stitch up someone else.

Hard to know if she’s spent too much time watching the Untouchables or if dark forces abound. She basically thinks Drew Harris is evil. Since the Maurice McCabe saga, I think anything’s possible.

One thing she repeatedly asks is why was he on his own. I would have thought it’s common enough for a Garda in a rural area to be alone, given that they’re thin on the ground.

    1. Lilly

I have it on good authority today that Gemma’s theory is loop the loop. It must be exhausting to see conspiracies everywhere. She must have been traumatised by her treatment at the hands of INM to such an extent that money can’t compensate.

  6. No Mask On Your Face, A Big Disgrace, Spreadin Yer Germs All Over the Place

But but but … what about the funeral? Will 10 Sunday Independent journalists and Eoghan Harris be able to attend and properly moan with the rest of Civil War mentality?

  7. Kate

I just hope garda don’t have to patrol on their own -whether uniform or plain clothes -in the future especially at night. Would detective Horkan be alive today if he had a colleague with him? I believe he would.
    R.I.P.
