The votes are in.

Last week, with a €25 Golden Discs voucher on offer, I asked you for your favourite opening line to a song?

You answered in your tens.

But there could be only one winner

‘I don’t believe in an interventionist god, but I know darling that you do.’

Three excellent songs, each a worthy winner. Glad I don’t have to make the choice.

Well done, Scottser! Enjoy the vouchers :-)

Given the headline on the previous article (Et Tu, Mary Lou?), perhaps the next competition should be songs about Marys/Mary Lous.

You know, like ” Well Hello Mary Lou, goodbye speaking rights!”

wow, there’s a surprise. i honestly thought if bertie didn’t win it then Niall would have with ‘sound of silence’.
i guess we all learned the difference between the first lines of great songs and great first lines of songs.
cheers everyone – that made a killer playlist btw.

Up The Junction was chosen by you to begin with, Nick. A worthy choice but… shenanigans!

I’ll just pick what you go for next time.
