This afternoon.
Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2.
Where are your masks?
Emergency services leaving the Department of Health after a suspicious package (possibly declared non-suspicious) was discovered, causing the building to be evacuated.

And mere days after an anti health rally… hmmm. I wonder what Q will make of it?
Careful now, you’ll upset some people.
After all, aren’t they ‘just asking questions’.
Daisy sees loons everywhere
In the same way you see conspiracy theories everywhere?
Such as?
Don’t you subscribe to the Bill Gates wants to forcibly vaccinate the world for sinister reasons?
I’d hope you’re not a fan of the 5G causes coronavirus/cancer/warts of the brain idiocy.
Bill Gates does want to vaccinate the world. He’s quite open about it, hardly a conspiracy theory.
I’ve never mentioned 5G, but do possess an honours degree in Applied Sciences and maths from trinners. Nuclear and radiation was a field I had to know.
Fair enough
must say these “Suspect Devices” have a strange habit of turning up whenever the establishment is experiencing a squeaky bum time e.g.
https://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/limerick-suspicious-package-identical-to-uk-letter-bombs-1.3834984
perhaps it was just a mis-delivery the bundle of invites for the next Golf + Dinner classic, wha
I guess we’ll never know

New tenants.
Firemen? A vast improvement.
I’m sure Janet will agree.

There’s been several hundred white powder hoaxes reported worldwide since the US anthrax attack of 2001 – the only time such an attack was ever genuine. Then it turned out to be ‘military -grade’ weaponised anthrax that was traced back to a US army lab.
Today’s hoax in Ireland wasn’t the first or second such hoax here . Just last year the HSE were sent a similar package that turned out to be baking powder. Same story as today: place evacuated/cordoned off, Army Bomb Disposal Team and HazMat unit called, fire brigades and ambulances put on on standby outside, etc
I know some people will disagree with me, but it seems to me like in the times we live in people are increasingly losing the ability to make a reasoned assessment of what response is proportionate to the level of risk involved The culture of ‘safetyism’ now dominates over all aspects of society..
Considering all the hoaxes that have come before, and the extreme improbability that someone in Ireland is going to get their hands on the likes of weaponised anthrax, is no one in authority able to take the decision that maybe a more toned-down response would be more appropriate here?
Then again, the overblown response is a nice bit of political theatre
…I heard it was powdered hocuspocusquinine+zinc they were stockpiling for TDs and health advisors…
How old are you I wonder? Isn’t it long past time to face up to your inner turmoil rather than lashing out at strangers on the internet?
It’s standard protocol because of terrorists and loons sending letterbombs as recently as last year.
https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/dissident-plot-probed-in-london-love-letter-bombs-37884050.html
There are hordes of disgruntled antivaxx, antimask, antichoice “activists” radicalised online and at rallies and staff aren’t going to open a suspicious package because these angry loons are terrorists and nobody wants to be the one who loses a hand or their life because it’s only “overblown… political theatre”.
