Easy Pickings [UPDATED]

From top: Brian Hayes, CEO of the Banking and Payments Federation Ireland; place setting at the Oireachtas Golf Society dinner

Anyone?

Promontoria is New York-based equity fund Cerberus’s Irish operation. Among its many holdings in Ireland, it purchased over 5,000 Ulster Bank mortgages with a face value of €1.6billion, and was central to the Project Eagle shenanigans.

Thursday UPDATE:

Mr Hayes  says that his guests, listed on the event’s seating plan, were school friends and not directors of a vulture fund, a rumour which has spread on social media.

They have no involvement in banking/financial services. I’ve seen the social media claims about vulture funds etc and it’s all made up. They are personal friends of mine for over 30 years.

“On lobbying – I was invited as a former member and attended in a private capacity while on holiday. I did not lobby anyone about anything.”

Mr Hayes has said that he would not be standing down from his role, saying that he is “a private citizen“.

Hayes says social media speculation over his golf dinner guests is ‘all made up’ (Irish Examiner)

Mick Wallace borrowed money and could not repay the borrowed money. Why blame anyone else?
Also, Mick failed to pay his staff pension contributions and taxes that were due – remind me why he is a hero to the plain people?

I think you’ll find that he did in fact pay the pensions.

Of course, at the same time, Regina Doherty gets a ‘get out of jail free’ card?

Maybe Hayes didn’t have the names of the three guests to hand when he booked the table. If they were Promontoria, then doubtful it was any coincidence.

    aha. now we’re possibly talking.

usually via a certain channel I could get information like this eventually for personal consumption but not on this occasion, for me that indicated two things…either it’s that the +3 were no-show/placeholders or the +3 were VERY sensitive

    in fairness Paul
    keep it coming

It’s very common for golf competitions to put +1 or +2 or +3 on the time sheet as a placeholder, especially for open team competitions. Maybe you have a few friends and will ask them who wants to join you, you just generally stick your name down with +3 and then ask because its easier to cancel one or more of those names than try get someone on a full timesheet.

I don’t know about her being a member of the legal profession (not according to her LinkedIn bio anyway https://ie.linkedin.com/public-profile/in/imelda-henry-24910615). The closest you get to that is her certifications, which say she has Business and Secretarial Skills with French.

She is the Managing Director of Link Consulting (http://linkconsulting.ie/about-us) where it says she is “Dedicated, result-driven leader with elite political and legal representative experience. A tactful leader credited with combining extensive lobbying and political experience with management, sales and marketing to deliver outstanding results and client satisfaction. Demonstrated fiscal accountability by delivering services on time and within budget. A confident spokesperson dedicated to develop and cultivate industry relationships in highly competitive markets.
