Dunboy Castle is actually located west of of Castletownbere, over 50km from Bantry.
The castle does have an interesting history. It’s lands were also the bailiwick of the O’Sullivan Bere clan

The house pictured was once owned by the Puxley family, the subject of Daphne Du Maurier’s novel, Hungry Hill. It’s now derelict having been developed speculatively about 20 years ago. At the time it was mooted as Ireland’s first 7 star hotel. Suites with accompanying tax breaks were available to investors starting at €450,000. Predictably, few enough were gullible to swallow that guff.
Thanks, Otis, that’s fixed now.
The @abandoned_westcork page on Instagram mentioned in your link is well worth a look for anyone interested in mouldering old buildings and urbex.
cheers, I love a standing chimney wall
