Possibly one of the most heart-warming things to happen during this crazy #Covid_19 crisis.
The people of Ireland 🇮🇪 have a very, very, long memory. And in this instance those memories were put to good use.#TwitterForGood @NaomiOhReally well done. 👍 https://t.co/icC4AwObDL

Yesterday.
NBC’s Today with Hoda & Jenna.
An item on US telly – featuring
covering the financial aid being sent from Irish donors to help two tribes of the Choctaw Nation in Oklahoma, USA during the rona. In 1847 the Choctaw people sent $170 to help during the famine. The best $170 they ever spent, in fairness.
to think there people, ngo scum out their trying to make out the Irish a bunch of racists.
….jaysus
Is this a rehashing of a story that happened earlier this year or has further help been provided?
I knew it seemed familiar…

Although seeing the video does give it extra poignancy, and will hopefully raise awareness and some more money for those affected.
Potato famine? This is a great piece, but that labelling ruins it slightly
+1 missred
‘best $170 they ever spent in fairness’ is a bit jarring too
Probably only meant as banter but coming off disrespectful and clumsy. what would you call that?
Higginsive?
Ya wha’? Disrespectful to? And how so? And clumsy?
Higginsive, Clamps. Higginsive ;)
Very nice.
Tear in the eye stuff
Sniff…
I love this story
and don’t care how many times its retold
not told often enough afaic
and btw
that piece in Middleton
is very striking, not like Middleton’s own – John Fenton’s strike
as memorialised in a tshirt
but it is very strong and elegant
worthy even
and clearly – now that I think about it
in the right place, where God calls his hometown
