Hard to feel any sympathy for Cork Airport.
A throwback to Celtic Tiger times when a perfectly adequate regional airport with a welcoming fire in the arrivals hall got ideas above its station and built the worst-designed white elephant of a terminal in Europe with no flights going anywhere that people really wanted to fly to .
It cost over €200million and yet to this day every single passenger who has ever departed from it has had their boarding pass manually checked by one person on a single desk.
In fact the single greatest achievement of Cork Airport is to be so bad it created a fantastic low-cost and efficient coach network from Cork to Dublin Airport.
When even Michael O’Leary gives up on you for being rubbish you know you’re rubbish.

Very familiar with Cork airport there Salmons. I can’t imagine what had you there so often. No tunnel for Britain I see. Bozo’s deadline has passed. Your beloved land is absolutely shagged. Totally shagged. Shagged beyond measure. Enjoy yourself over the coming couple of years as civil disobedience takes over and society collapses …

            Been around years
            although in fairness
you can spot him a mile off
This is about the only gaff he’s lasted more than six months in
            AFAIR anyway
Maybe on an AFR now, he might have managed a longer tenancy

If I was @rsed now, I’d check the PV and see what he was going under there through the years etc
            but I’m not

I see you Cork Airport and raise you Murcia Int’l Airport. Around the corner from the middle of nowhere with an atrocious bus service and worse car hire!

Knew it well when I used to play a few rounds at La Manga Club but why not use Alicante instead? It’s only a short spin along the coast.
Still, at least it’s not built on a hill at the highest point in the city which attracts fog which has already caused one fatal crash. No, that would be a silly thing to do.

Starting off at 9.1 this morning. The SHI Troubles meter can’t take much more of this.

At least you could get the bus from the city to do your weekend plane spotting, and not have to pay for parking at the airport (though, I doubt they’d charge full price for a bike anyway)

I wish every airport was like Cork airport. No stampedes, queues, chaos and all that horror associated with flying. 200m is a drop in the ocean. Get well soon.

        No stampedes ?
That’s because so few airlines use it.
The only thing that’ll be left soon is Aer Lingus’ Nonce Express service to Rome. Now that IS a busy route.

Quiet yes but that’s the way I like my travel. It obviously survived quite well before this Covid mayhem. I don’t know if you’ve ever been to the likes of John Lennon in Liverpool, Midlands in Bermingham etc etc in the UK. Absolute poo holes for sheep.

          Backwaters generally are.
But any airport operator will tell you that’s not how to be successful.
They want it frenetic with lots of people buying lots of stuff and lots of aircraft landing and taking off.
That’s how they earn their corn.
Not by putting hardwood floors in the departure lounge.

You’ve obviously never run a business.
That’s what you get with Generation Entitlement brought up on the teat of the Nanny State and being told what to do by the Burghers of Brussels.

I’ve just found Michael McNamara’s YT channel which uploads Leaders’ Questions – in some of them he makes Varadkar quiver and bitch which is evident with his ’emmmmm, emmm, emmm, em’ and much more besides, which shows Varadkar up for what he is – I’m looking forward to seeing more of McNamara.

yeah I like his style alright, a straight shooter as far as I can tell

I’m particularly pleased whenever he shines a light on Leaky Varadker, for me that motormouth is very interesting to watch at the minute, it’s clear enough from the various utterances he fears having his poor record on the Health portfolio both as it’s direct line minister and later as Taoiseach terribly exposed if C19 overwhelms the hospitals. no doubt there’ll be a smartarse answer if it doesn’t work out. but sure what’s new? when it comes to him it’s always all about Leo after all.

back in a different career I’d regularly end up in a weekly “SMT” meeting at a well known corporate…one thing that stood out after a while was how the sociopaths in the room would always start to behave if alpha dog was absent from the meeting (for those ones we’d ditch the Project Managerspeak BS Bingo cards in favour of a more psycho focussed one lol) usually they just couldn’t help themselves in their self-promoting, competitive and destructive efforts to replace alpha dog….missing the overall point of discussion on many occasions in favour of the self. ’twas like watching an Attenborough documentary on animal behaviour heehee :)

The Star is on fire at the moment – it’s having a great pandemic.
Dom is a pantomime villain straight out of Central Casting.I presume his masks are selling well.
Still not as convinced as you he’ll be gone by early next year.

I agree Joe Public doesn’t really care about Cummings.
In fact Joe Public cares very little about what Westminster hacks think are important – when the Walrus of Bluster pontificates on All Out Politics his audience is miniscule.
So too Newsnight and all the daytime politics stuff.
It’s just hacks talking to MPs talking to lobby groups and they all got taken by surprise by the referendum and last December’s GE because of it.
At least Dom got outside the M25 to test his eye-sight.
