I didn’t like their burgers. There, I said it.
Sorry to see them gone, mind you.
I love people who say it as they see it.
In other words, honest.
I don’t like chips !
What a team :)
Flop.
The Easiest Knot Undone
A ribbon bow, the easiest knot to be untied. Not like the rough hewn hemp of sailor knots. Not those on ships which are watched for from a widow’s walk Atop a nautical cape cod mansion two fathoms tall. A ship sailed by sailors who wear sweaters cable knit Whose patterns tell a family a member drown at sea, No, ribbon bows that untie like a simple magic trick. Pull an end, its loops diminish one by one; It makes a tiny flop like a final throb of pulse and disappears. Only ribbon now, it may cling as loathe to part from her. And from a ship’s best vantage point. A man is watching too for any sign of life.
I expected a poem about flip-flops, not flimsy ribbons.
There is, however, a delicacy to ribbons – nothing like the sturdy big toe the flip-flop embodies.
ah take what you’re given
Would prefer biblical chapter and verse.
Philippians 4:6: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
I have tried to erase my indoctrination :)
I googled it, Janet. I’m a failure in the eyes of Himself.
13 years of Sunday school would sort that out for ya ;)
Thanks.
I always liked Paul.
He knew what he was talking about – followed the footsteps.
Biblical references seem to upset the chronological comment order.
and the cosmical order
I’m surprised News hasn’t turned up to stick his oar in ;)
@BB
An harmonious one would be ideal.
@Janet
Everyone is expected to pull their weight.
I didn’t like them either, Millie. Never knew what all the fuss was about. But at least they weren’t part of a chain, so also sorry to see them go.
I loved their burgers, on the odd time I did go… ‘ti’s a loss.
is not that the point: “the odd time I did go”. No business can survive in the odd time I did go, particularly a restaurant or bar, or shop. Go there and keep them trading!!!!
Superior drunken scran, I always thought. Can’t vouch for how the food might have tasted when sober.
The jacks were like a scene from a Francis Bacon triptych though.
I loved their burgers at one point, but the quality went up and down whenever they changed their meat supplier, or so it seemed. Having said that 3 out of 5 burgers were great! They gave you tiny, wee cokes with your food.
A slightly unpopular opinion but Dame Street should never have been the place for these fast food outlets – it has been colonised in the last few years by them along with lurid signage utterly out of keeping with the historic street scape that you don’t see for example in a city like Edinburgh with its rich Georgian architectural heritage. I place the blame on Dublin City Council here though. It is not really the fault of the business owners.
That is not to suggest that I don’t have huge sympathy for the business owner and his staff here, another victim of the pandemic.
I think that would be the general consensus as opposed to an unpopular opinion.
Ah lads! Big mincey burgers! Will 2020 ever give us a break?
They were terrible burgers that fell apart when you tried to eat them. Loose mince in a bun.
I loved their burgers, especially their chicken burger. Chips were great too. And a perfect location for a post-drink snack. They will be missed.
