If ever there was a reason to stop this Claire Byrne ‘reality show’ fiasco, there you have it. I’m sure D4bes will issue a memo or something.
Anyone charged over the going-away do yet?

Erra go on out of that Giggidybot.

You don’t like RTE, then don’t watch it. Spare yourself the the auld rolling daily hate commenting.

Shur I hear Grift Media are mulling over a decision to start a YouTube channel and haven’t Breitfart News got a ton of items more to your taste.

Plenty of “choice” around to tickle your and your aliases tastebuds.

”You don’t like RTE, then don’t watch it. ”

That would be a reasonable request if we were not forced, on pain of prosecution and a hefty fine, to pay for this sort of output.

So anyone who pays their TV licence is fully entitled to criticise what their money is being spent on.

However, as I have not paid it in years and have no intention of doing so anytime soon, I will follow my own advice and say no more about the show itself.

(But my opinion if I was to offer it would not be a nice one.)

It is not a tax for watching RTE but rather a TV licence or now a device charge, technically levied on the actual hardware rather than the broadcaster. If you have a screen of some sort on which you watch media, you are liable to pay even if you never watch RTE – you are watching some shiz though.

As for me, I am happy to pay as public service broadcasting is something very important to me. I think this tax should be levied at source as part of income tax and incorporated into IT without it being called a separate tax.

You didn’t see the original comment. It was direct advice to you to seek help. I’ve told you already to do it. You have a crush on Giggidy Goo obviously. Maybe you’re imagining some of the things you told soq to do? Is that it?.
            Go seek help.

I was going to say that but given the vibe around there at the moment, thought it mightnt be appropriate

but yeah, it’s very elegant and she wears it well

  2. Dr.Fart

typical arrogant doctor’s instinctive stance to see themselves as being ‘above it’ so to speak. Trust me, I’M a doctor. I know what we (apart from me) are like.

Pretty funny really. Yer man hops back when Claire reminds him they’re still live.

In fairness, RTÉ is a workplace and practically no workplace is following “the rules”.
    .
At least not when customers aren’t around. Sure, they distance and mask up when the customer comes in, but they’re not doing it when your not around.

Sure how could they, it’s impossible.

Claire Byrne has managed to reinvent herself from a reasonable presenter to some sort of Alan Partridge parody.
It’s obvious that all she cares about is her pay cheque, journalistic integrity is irrelevant.

and it’s difficult to see how she can ever go back after this

recall a researcher on prime time telling me once that miriam ocallaghan was fiercely protective of own personal brand – and would veto anything she felt was tabloid, gimmicky or generally beneath her. claire, it appears, will do whatever she’s told to do.

look, if RTE set their stall out to be the arbiter of who should get covid shame then when they breach the guidelines then they should be slaughtered for it.

judge not lest ye be judged
