Wonderful photos of St Mary’s camogie team in East Wall in the early 1920s and an all-nighter dance they organised in 1924 in the Irene Hall, Parnell Sq which went on from 10.30pm-6.30am! Credit: Joe Mooney (East Wall History Group) / David Whittaker. Sam pic.twitter.com/jqYJ1uMtng

Ierne, Goodnight Ierne. Irene, didn’t feature. I’m sure she was disappointed.
Some sesh for the band to go through! Of course there were no DJs to spin a few choons BITD.
6 shillings and 6 pence seems a steep price to pay in 1924 for a dance ticket. I assume that gallant football and hurling men at the time were expected to buy tickets for themselves and the ladies they accompanied to the event? 13 bob was a fair whack to enjoy an alcoholfree allnight entertainment.
I’d say you were guaranteed the ride, which, back then, would have been worth a few bob in itself
Jeez if ya had to hang on until 6.30 am
….6.30am;
would ya be up for it at all?
Up for it at all.
I’ll get me matron.
