They should never be happening in late July in Tokyo anyway because of the heat, nevermind any corona shenanigans. Theres no good reason not to delay for two months until late September when the weather is a bit cooler and Japan has vaccinated a lot more people.

No good reason? Well apart from all the athletes spending the year to peak for a specific period to compete at their best.

The delay would hit all athletes equally. It wouldn’t give any an unfair advantages over another. Its not like one cohort would have been timing to peak in September.

They had a similar tracking system for the London marathon. The athletes showed such focus to essentially do 5km laps.

Anyhow this all seems poorly executed. A different destination for this year should of been arranged.
