This afternoon.

Sallynoggin Pearse FC, where Paul McGrath played and whose home pavilion has become a vandalised rubble (pic 2), has received a cash injection from Paddy Power’s €100,000 #saveourgame campaign fund.

Rachael Kenny writes:

Sallynoggin Pearse FC will receive a donation of €10,000 to go towards the purchase of an anti-vandalism unit.

The club had been using a “tin-can” shed circa 1970s as their clubhouse in Sallynoggin Park [south county Dublin] for years.

The corrugated steel structure housed two dressing rooms, a shower room and a tearoom, but no toilets..

But vandals seemed hell bent on destroying the meagre facility and stealing the equipment the club relied upon.’

Where was the FAI through all this, anyone?

Meanwhile…

…Paddy Power added:

“The needs of Sallynoggin Pearse FC really put the state of Irish football into raw perspective. When we set out to help Irish football at a grassroots level with #saveourgame, we never expected to find a club where the grass growing beneath their feet were literally all they had.”

OK, Paddy.

We’ll do the jokes around here.

FIGHT!

Paddy Power
