Say hello…

…to The renovated Hill, 1 Old Mountpleasant, Ranelagh, Dublin 6.

Danielle Graham writes:

One of Dublin’s most iconic pubs, The Hill, has reopened its doors once more. The soft re-opening of the stunning building took place last Thursday and with a number of sympathetic renovations having taken place, it’s new owners have breathed some new life into the beautiful and historic building inside and out.

The building itself, which originally opened for business in 1845, has been a longstanding part of the Ranelagh and Dublin 6 community for around 200 years with a number of proprietors all having put their stamp on this timeless bar and one time grocers.

Having retained a lot of its original character, you will find original gold mirrored plating above the bar with one of the previous owners’ names etched into its design as well as the pub’s memory. There’s also some original brass and wood fittings dotted throughout the space, with a much loved snug at the very front of the bar for those cosy gatherings on cooler nights.

A group I was in used to drink either in the Hill or the Beal Bocht as a way to finish off the evening. Great to see it back to its former glory.

Yea bit of a strange one. In the 90’s a few heads from the now million euro Swan Grove and Charlo used to be in there
