All Over Bar The Yellen

at

Yesterday afternoon.

Dublin Castle, Dublin 2.

Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe and former Labour Party leader Ruairi Quinn greet the United States Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen.

Ms Yellen gave keynote address at an event hosted by the Institute for International and European Affairs, telling the assembled:

“I think we have agreed that 15% is the global minimum tax. Now, of course, individual countries may choose themselves to establish a higher tax, but I expect many countries to adopt a 15% tax.

“It works for many countries. I don’t think that’s something that’s going to be reconsidered as a global minimum.”

US Treasury Secretary says 15% global minimum corporation tax rate won’t be reconsidered (RTÉ)

    very well done Janet.
-chair of the Federal Reserve from 2014 to 2018. She served one term and was not re-appointed by President Donald Trump-

Americans treat one term presidents with distain, the unfair advantage the incumbent enjoys all but assures a win, that is unless your a big loser like Bush and Carter….Trump.

He cant let go of his stolen election/fraud nonsense which dooms him to irrelevance, unlike Janet.

It looks like Jerome (Mr. well timed equity trading..ahem & the current inflation is but a stratch / temporary…..there there now now nothing to see here please move on) Powell might be in for the one term bust, certainly if Elizabeth Warren has her way.

Thanks for that, johnny, I’ve missed TDS, since BDS (Biden’s Dementia Status) became more interesting.
I reckon Ol’ Joe might turn out to be a one term president, if he can just hold on. If he falters, which he does, we’ll end up with Kamala Harris as the first WOC to hold the highest office in the US (apart from head honcho of the CIA), which would be great, of course, absolutely, girl power!
Obama’s second election saw a decrease of about 4 million votes cast, the biggest change up to that point but you obviously reckon that only a lunatic would suggest that the extra 27 million votes cast in the last election might not have all been kosher?
      Good man, johnny.

what exactly are you tryings say here, that there was a higher number of votes cast,27 million is your number?

is this what you are conflating ?

….third rate stuff from pascal, she made no such statement, for the state propaganda machine, not challenging another man putting words in a woman’s mouth is par for the course.

-Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, he said that Secretary Yellen understood that Ireland was not a tax haven because it does not have a very, very low or zero rate of tax for large companies and because Ireland is not outside of international agreements and tax.-

From this he jumped,it’s really something a finance minister in the Caribbean would say, speaking of which, where is Dennis?

“Ms Yellen said that Ireland no longer needs to attract large corporations with its competitive tax rate as most multinationals operating in Ireland do so because they can “take advantage of a very able, educated workforce and friendly business environment that goes well beyond taxes”.

Ps-she was laughing when she said this.

Took me a second to work out why the former rock singer Bonio was there, then I realised it’s a meeting about pretending to tax the taxdodgers & I realised he must’ve been there to drop hints & veiled threats on behalf of the 1% or “his people”, as he calls them & flash Masonic hand gestures at the confused gombeenmen.
Possibly he sang a song about taxation, accumulation, inflation, reassignation of assets to subsidiary foreign vehicles under schedule 12?
Yellen, I guess, used to be a big fan of U2 as a teenager, which goes to show what a long & successful career they’ve had.
So, a beautiful day, indeed, a new year’s day, an 11o’clock, tick, tock, even, as governments around the world are allowed to take a few quid off the planet’s wealthiest psychopaths, once the money is spent on water cannons, vaccines, vaccine passport systems, vaccine awareness programs, vaccine delivery systems, vaccine hesitancy elimination camps & ministerial jets. Except Switzerland, The Seychelles, Bermuda & all the British & US-administered tax havens you can think of, they don’t like such taxing encounters.
    Yes, that is Bonio’s chequebook.
Let me regale you with the story of how I once walked into Northside Shopping Centre with a blank cheque, signed by Bonio, in my pocket. [Contd. Pg. 53]
