This Christmas…

…celebrate the joy of Dublin.

RetroEire writes:

What makes Dublin memorable? Places, music, culture. Some have vanished. Some are cherished. Some are under threat. At RetróEire we keep an eye out for reminders, memories and hints of home.

The Ceol Collection in collaboration with analogue letterpress printer One Strong Arm is about Irish songs & stories framed in contemporary design.

Designed and letterpress printed using a process which has remained unchanged for over 400 years. It’s music to the ears & eyes.

The first of many collabs from our Makers & Creators Corner, saving Dublin memories is an invitation to share treasured memories of the past in the present.

Maybe to reflect small imperfections that used to occur:
I remember a very interesting chat, with someone associated with the print museum, where they explained the problems with printing the Irish Proclamation due to font shortages.

Very interesting thanks, I’ll save it for later. But no, my man was older and had possibly worked as a printer.

The gentlemen in there that keep those machines running are the best part of the museum, sadly lost a few this year.
Luckily there has been a skills transfer course so that all the knowledge is not lost.
The gentleman on the Shaw Pen was my favorite, his name escapes me but when AI turns nasty you know where to go to reclaim the printed word ;)

Maybe Paulus, just wondering why that ‘L’ has it and the other don’t.

I know nothing about printing btw

each type is part of a tray, over the years lots of pieces may go missing from a tray, it might be the only L left in there quiet simply

My time doing letterpress had me tearing my hair out but I love the results !

Could these be any blander, less original and corny? Seriously, the idea might have made sense over a good few pints, but lamb of jaysus, they’re laziest yokes I’ve seen in years. And I bet not a sinner is credited either for the use of their words.

Totally miss the point, so much so that if she had a pencil you’d have to tell her to turn it the other way around.

Completely agree, only a background image of the Pigeon House could make them any cornier. It’s like an eight of an idea that should have been abandoned long before going to print.
