They’re filed and, therefore, public. *Unopened* means a barrister hasn’t introduced them as evidence before a judge in court.

Yeah, bit sunlight for the best,British Navy-wow quite the backstory, hopefully not as a volunteer?

I’m a lil confused as to what outcome he’s hoping for with his suit, what was his role during this ?

One of the remedies available to oppressed minority shareholders (once oppression is made out OTBOP). Both he and Kelly still retain shares.

ROFL. It just goes to show Paddy Cosgrave is about as interested in standards in public office as Viktor Lukashenka and Vlad Putin (waves at Chay Boweski). Blind and bungling sworn vengeance is what solely drives him, irate at having to decamp to Lisbon due to the government and the IDA being guilty of the treasonous crime of lèse majesté or indeed lèse padjesté.

Paddy happy to have supped with the cronies in the past though, living it up (allegedly of course) on Denis O’Brien’s private jet. But as true as night follows day, Paddy has fallen out with Dinny and has added him to his list of mortal enemies. Not the behaviour one would expect from a Glenstal boy!

….yeah, you’d have question the character too of his partners,I mean for this chap it’s his peak, what else has he done besides, stab his partner in the back from New York ?

There’s a definite pro Paddy editorial policy here. You really know how to pick them.
This is a guy that would make Donal Trump seem like a thick skinned affable type.

Despite Paddy’s current “am I bovvvered” twitter gifs, I’ll bet you a bazillion overpriced aran jumpers, this case (or all these cases) settle on the steps and we won’t get to grab the popcorn to hear these allegations litigated. I hope I am wrong.

      1. Johnny

        Mission Acvomplished.
Good luck raising capital with this shade…
Hem sorry, could we get back to the litigation,is that a contingent liability, what’s the exposure :)
Get the fook out here, who booked these paddies….no capital will touch them until this is satisfactorily resolved, what’s the rate, burn baby burn….who ever said life was fair/

        1. Bitnboxy

Very true. Not a good look for a CEO at this stage. Also rare to see a CEO so overtly involved in this type of litigation.

Paddys an arsehole on a personal level by all accounts but to be fair to him hes done a lot more good for the country than most rich people in the last year or two.

Hes actually had the audacity to question Leo Varadkar and the wider establishment publicly, which is why the Irish Times and co always have it in for him. You’re not meant to rock the boat once you’re successful.

Paddy could very easily be sitting back on his millions objecting to planning permission for apartments in his neighbourhood, lobbying for lower taxes, being tax resident in Malta etc but instead hes sticking his neck out funding investigative journalism that targets our political class. Its a risky (brave) business.

      1. Bitnboxy

“Funding investigative journalism” – Erm, no – “Funding personal vendettas” more apt. Paddy has no interest in standards of public office. Not one scintilla.

Also, what is with the world and his auntie calling themselves “investigative journalists” of late?

        1. Zaccone

What exactly do you call the Village magazine’s efforts to bring Leo Varadkar’s corruption to light if not investigative journalism?

A publication, investigating a prominent, powerful politician, and publishing details of their rule breaking that would never have come to public light otherwise. Its pretty much the definition of investigative journalism thats of huge benefit for a polity no?

          1. Bitnboxy

My point is in relation to Cosgrave though and his primary motivations. Your comment reads as if he is imbued with an abiding altruism and commitment to standards in public life. Absolute BS. Cosgrave was happy to live it large with the cronies previously but as he perceives them to have turned their back on him and injured his ego (and political ambitions), it’s all out war.amd twisted venedetta. When one makes allegations of impropriety, it really does help if one’s own hands are clean.

          2. Zaccone

I see, so you concede that it is actually investigative journalism?

And given Cosgrave is the one funding, and drawing wider attention to, this investigative journalism…

It is then entirely accurate to say he is “funding investigative journalism”, no?

It doesn’t matter for Ireland _why_ hes doing it. All that matters is that its bringing political corruption to light, to the benefit of our country, when it wouldn’t otherwise be.

          3. Bitnboxy

The problem unfortunately is that there is a bungling knucklehead element to Cosgrave et al feeding the Village (an outfit that really ignored all the signs re Gemma O’Doherty until it was a tad too late whereupon there was a volte face). Let the investigation run its course – interfering and pursuing personal vendettas – well, it’s playing into your enemies hands. It’s kinda basic. Also, I am not sure Paddy is having quite the impact he thinks he is having.

          4. Zaccone

So just to be clear here, are you trying to argue that Ireland would be better off had the Village and Paddy Cosgrove not exposed Leo’s corruption?

          5. Bitnboxy

I think I have explained my views comprehensively- Cosgrave is not all that he seems (to be fair his “difficult” personality is well known) and to equate him as some sort of whistleblower with an abiding interest in public probity and corruption, well it’s an insult to actual whistleblowers like Maurice McCabe. Unless Varadkar gained personally from what was a gross error of judgement (leaving aside Cosgrave’s tawdry insinuations), I fail to see what service he has rendered Joe Citizen aside from the swivel-eyed flogging of a personal vendetta which looks like his M.O.

      2. delacaravanio

“[Cosgrave is not] objecting to planning permission for apartments in his neighbourhood, lobbying for lower taxes…”

Do we know for sure he’s not doing either of those things? Anyway, objecting to planning permission for apartments in one’s neighbourhood is, depending on the context, an entirely legitimate thing to do (there’s planning laws for a reason, and it’s not as if you need money to object – anyone can do it).

Regarding the taxes, remember that he pulled his main Web Summit expo, or whatever it is called from Ireland because of the fact that the government weren’t giving it enough subsidies/assistance.

  3. gallantman

The media weirdly put him on a pedestal for years and then this Wizard of Oz realisation that he basically organises a conference.

    1. Gonna be great

It’s very good, he’s very newsworthy Paddy, and good for a laugh too.
I wonder what happened to Broadsheet’s old mate, Harbo’ though?
      I miss him

  4. Cui Bono?

He’s been hyping up the covid hysteria so much over the last 2 years that he could well be on the same team as Leo and the rest of FF/FG/Sinn Fein(new FF). Was he not advising FG at one stage last year and is good mates with a number of them?

Controlled opposition works in many ways but they all want the same ultimate outcome – to implement the Digital ID social credit system. Paddy is a technocrat and would not be in the privileged position he’s in now without the support from other technocrats over the years.
